“Discovery requires experimentation.”
Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
My brain is constantly spinning, which is a feeling that I'm sure a lot of you can empathize with. It doesn't really shut off, and I'm always looking at how things work - and how they could work - and I frequently end up tearing down and rebuilding processes in my brain. That's just how I idle, and quite frankly, I envy those of you whose natural brain processes just allow you to sip a cup of coffee, look at what's around you, and quietly appreciate how nice it is.
Since I'm not that guy, though, I thought, "Why not weaponize this?" And thus was born my card-and-dice prototyper. It's based off of some ancient software I used back in the day, but this version is completely contained within the browser using an unpleasant amount of Javascript, which is the devil's tongue. You can bring up cards, flip them, move them around, resize them, whatever. There are tokens you can put down on the table, tools to roll dice, and even the ability to summon a full deck of cards with a random shuffle and draw through it until it's empty. For something that exists in your browser and works perfectly on the phone, I'm pretty proud of the utility I packed into it. With it, I've got a way to quickly prototype things and get them out to my secret cabal of playtest buddies to see if what's in my brain is actually any good.
Anyway, I'll be using it to test out some game ideas of mine and maybe one day unleash what's refined out of this crucible onto the world. I've got a pretty good (if I'm allowed to suggest so about my own creation) tabletop Soulslike that I'm pretty proud of so far. Try it, if you'd like, but be prepared to get knocked around; it does not like you.
In other news, I've updated the Helldivers Requisition Form to include everything from the upcoming Python Commandos Warbond, which is going to pound so much ass. I'm stunned that they're actually giving us a flamethrower drone, but here we are. This bad boy's gonna kill so many Helldivers.
In other other news, yeah, I know I promised you reviews soon, and they're still coming. I've just been in an odd season of transition here, and I haven't worked it into my timeline yet. This was a pretty easy article to write, though, so maybe that'll inspire me to actually do more. Not that it matters, anyway, because I'm the only one reading this, which is perfectly fine.
